Technical Manager

Perpetual is an award-winning product design and software development agency in New York. We work on a variety of innovative and exciting projects, ranging from creative interactive front-end experiences to advanced scalable back-end and data systems. Our clients include several successful startups and innovative large corporations like Reuters, Elle Magazine, Car & Driver, Sonder, Unpakt, The Inside, MIT, University of California and Reliance Jio. Our team has prior experience at companies like McKinsey, Verizon, Reuters, Code & Theory and Fantasy Interactive. We follow best practices in Product Management, UX Design and Software Engineering.

We are seeking a cross-project Technical Manager to help own, develop and coordinate our various ongoing projects. This is a great opportunity to work among a highly talented team on exciting projects in a fast-paced and fun environment.

About You

You come from a technical background and have pivoted or are looking to pivot to a Technical Manager role. You have leadership experience and are an excellent communicator, analytical thinker with a pragmatic approach to problem solving. You have experience working in an enterprise environment and are comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment, not afraid to go hands on and help solve technical problems with the engineering team. You have worked in organizations that have geographically distributed teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Key Skills and Requirements:

  1. 6 years+ of experience working in a software development role with a proven track record of managing projects from concept to delivery
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  3. Deep technical expertise – you understand front end frameworks, distributed systems and high-scale technology infrastructure. Familiar with modern technology stack and Cloud based services (AWS/Azure/Similar)
  4. Current hands-on experience with 3 or more of the following technologies:
    React, Node, Python, Java, .NET, MySQL
  5. Experience successfully operating an agile development process
  6. Experience working in an enterprise environment on enterprise applications
  7. Experience working with USA clients and engineering teams 
  8. Experience leading engineering teams and solving advanced technical challenges
  9. Proven leadership and management experience
  10. Experience with technology hiring process
  11. Be a mentor and guide for the team and contribute towards technical leadership. 
  12. Drive project execution and oversee product development work streams on a day-to-day basis. 
  13. Strong project management and organization skills
  14. Ability to multi-task projects and own the product delivery process.
  15. Eagerness to learn and grow
  16. A Bachelor's and preferably also master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
  17. A proactive, positive, can-do attitude 
  18. A sense of humor
